Aerick Adler is an American wizard who relocated to London and currently works as a bartender in Club Indigo. He is an occlumens and takes the animagus form of a python.
Personality[]
Aerick is a brooding, apathetic soul who just wants to find his place in the world. Brought up being taught to respect the purity of wizarding bloodlines, when he interacts with those of pure blood, he treats them with the utmost respect. He's the perfect gentleman; he opens doors, tell you anything and everything you want to hear, and listen to your every word. He will passionately defend you against the bullies, and bring you soup The moment he finds out you're a Nomaj though? You don't exist. He believes that Nomaj's are not worthy to lean the magic of his ancestors, and he will let you know that. One could say that they respect the fact that he is brutally honest, but it's to a point of downright mean. He's made plenty of Nomaj witches and wizards cry over him snidely telling them how they aren't worthy.
That all changed when Aerick found out his dad was a Nomaj wizard though - he went through a crisis of faith, per se. Now, Aerick is an empty shell of what he once was; cold, calculating, unsure of his place in the world. He wanders, lost in his never-ending thoughts. Who is he? Where's his place? He became a bartender to fill the empty void in his stomach; that earth shattering realization that he is not completely pure. He's not afraid to use his muscle and apathy to his advantage; he actually relishes the thrill he gets when fighting a person - the blood, the bruises, it reminds him he's human. Very, very, very deep down, he is hoping someone will help him find his place again, but that'll be hard to admit out loud.

History[]
Aerick was born to Kenneth & Shannon, two wizards who met while both had an internship with the American Ministry of Magic. Shannon was an Irish witch from Hogwarts (Slytherin) and Kenneth a Wampus from Ilvermorny. Their shared passion for ambition and power soon drove them into a wild love affair, which resulted in Shannon's pregnancy. They had a quickie marriage, and then Aerick came into the world. He was well loved by his parents, who taught him early that the purest of blood were the only ones worthy to study magic. Every summer, he would be sent to visit his relatives in Ireland; Kenneths family was all dead, so they had to rely on Shannon's family to instill the values of blood purity. He developed a close relationship with his father, who he began to idolize for his passion and devotion to the pureblood way of life.
Shannon and Kenneth decided to settle in New York City, both having received full time jobs out of their shared internship years before, so Aerick, it was decided, would attend Ilvermorny. Upon his arrival in the Sorting Chamber, he was picked by both Wampus and Horned Serpent. Having idolized his father since childhood, Aerick picked Wampus. His academic career at Ilvermorny showed a bright and promising future; he even dabbled a little in wand lore as a seventh year, finding a knack for the craft. He graduated at the top of his class, but he would not remember graduation for his academic achievements. No, he would remember it as the day his father disappeared. At first, his mother tried to hide it from him, saying his father couldn't make his graduation because he was ill, but soon it was revealed that he had up and left in the middle of the night, never to be heard from again. He had left Aerick and his mother a sealed note explaining everything; Kenneth Adler was a Nomaj, a Muggleborn, a man of dirty blood. He had hid it for so long it became easy to pretend, the letter said, but he could pretend no longer.
Aerick's world as he knew it was shattered. Studying under one of the United States' top wandmakers? No, he no longer held any interest. Work at the American Ministry? No, he could not bare to be associated with his filthy Nomaj father and his former profession. He felt lost, so lost. He had been instilled with holding the utmost respect of blood purity, and now it was revealed that he himself was a halfblood. His identity was destroyed; his purpose in life, lost. Who was he, really? He didn't know anymore. He traveled the world, wandering from country to country, spending the night with pretty girls he'd forget the name of the next day, drinking himself into stupors. Nothing mattered anymore. Nothing, until he met Uriah. Uriah found him drunk at a bar one night, and when he asked what he wanted, he said 'for those pure of blood be recognized as the royalty they are.' Uriah took him back to his house and got him sober, before getting him a job as a bartender in Club Indigo. Soon, some of Aerick's old personality shone through; he was charming with the patrons, flirted with the girls, and brought in excellent money. Inside though? Inside he was still the dead, empty shell with an identiy crisis.
Aerick soon performed...other jobs for Alucard and the others on his nights off; some more violent than others. Aerick was physically strong, and had no problem knocking someone out if they were mouthing off, so his set of skills were valuable. He did not take part in the kidnappings; he had another task set by the boss that night. His job was to maintain the facade that Club Indigo was simply an alluring club for patrons to let loose and have fun, and Aerick kept that facade going. He has not revealed yet his affinity for wandlore; he knows that at the right moment he would be able to show Elaine just how useful he could really be...and then things could really start to be fun.
