–Hermione to Ron |
Hermione Granger-Weasley was the Minister of Magic prior to her untimely death in the Quidditch Final accident of 2025. She was well known for her outspoken support of elven rights as well as the defeat of the dark wizard Lord Voldemort in 1998. She was a close associate of Harry Potter and a former member of the Order of the Phoenix, and Ouroboros when it splintered. She died before being able to see the Order reunified.
Personality
When Hermione was eleven years old, the sorting hat almost placed her in Ravenclaw over Gryffindor, and it’s pretty clear why the choice was so difficult. Hermione is the cleverest witch of her year and perhaps of her generation at Hogwarts, but she’s also brave, daring and chivalrous as shown during her tireless efforts against Voldemort and his supporters. The Second War was not only physically exhausting but mentally and emotionally for Hermione. It would have been enough for anyone to just give up and coast along in life. Hermione chose to see the opportunity once the war was over to change the Ministry for the better. She knew how Muggleborns were being treated over the year Voldemort was in power, and she took the chance presented to her by Kingsley and ran with it. She was a champion of Muggleborn and Creature rights; she feels strongly that everyone regardless of blood status or species should have a chance to get equal rights. Her hard-working and fierce attitude towards equality got her to the head of her department and eventually to the top position within the ministry.
On the other side, Hermione was very headstrong and stubborn, usually refusing to believe in things (such as the Deathly Hallows, and crumple horned snorklacks) without any shred of physical proof and will argue her side of a disagreement to the death. She believed that all the information needed to succeed is somewhere in a book. She was a little high-strung, though with the help of her husband & children she has loosened up a little over the years.
Motherhood to Hermione was still her greatest achievement, and definitely softened her over the years. She continued to champion her causes and fight for what she feels is right to ensure her children have a bright and safe future until her death. She passed many laws and decrees with the initial thought of "how can this decision make the world a better place for my children and their peers?" She was understandably a little protective of her children, but particularly Hugo, who had shown himself to be a clairvoyant. As her worst subject in school, Hermione admittedly had some trouble understanding her sons' visions, but tried to push past her limited understanding to help him the best she can. She worried much less about Rose, who she saw a lot of herself in, and was always ready and eager to send owls with homework help or words of encouragement to both her children whenever they need it. She had half a mind to travel to Hogwarts just about every other day, however she controlled the urges by busying herself at work.
History
Most people have heard of the name Hermione Granger at this point – she was a third of the famous trio that helped orchestrate the defeat of Voldemort and his Death Eaters and followers. Known fondly as the ‘brains’ of the operation, Hermione was instrumental in ensuring they were as prepared as possible for hunting down and destroying Horcruxes that led to the defeat of Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts. Instead of joining the ministry after the battle, Hermione opted to return for her seventh and final year of Hogwarts in order to take her NEWTs, which she passed with flying colors. After graduation, she decided to enter the Ministry in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures with the intent of taking SPEW further. She was able to secure house elves rights with sick leaves and pensions for all working creatures in just three short years, an accomplishment she is immensely proud of.
Her relationship with Ron Weasley, which started in the middle of the Battle for Hogwarts, was initially rocky, as they still bickered and quarreled frequently. Indeed, the two broke up twice before their marriage, once while Hermione was focused on her NEWTs and Ron felt neglected, and again when Ron made his job transition from Auror to joke shop owner with his brother George. The second breakup lasted several months in 2002, and when Hermione felt that she was almost ready to move on from the youngest Weasley brother forever, she discovered she was pregnant with his child. She got in contact with Ron, who immediately proposed to her, which she accepted. They married in front of just Harry & Ginny in an intimate ceremony. Tragedy however struck when Hermione miscarried just a few days after the wedding and was nearly inconsolable. Ron was able to step up and be there for Hermione both physically and emotionally in a way he never had before; this confirmed for her that she had made the right decision in marrying him.
After the wedding and subsequent miscarriage, Hermione felt that it was time to start a new chapter in her career. She left the Deparment of Magical Creatures and began a job with the Improper Use of Magic office in the Department of Magical Law enforcement, a departmental choice she had laughed at so many years ago. With the guidance of Kingsley Shacklebot she was able to eradicate many pro-pureblood laws that had been put into place so many years ago. She worked her way up through the department, revolutionizing and modernizing the way the department was run and in 2014 was named Deputy Head of the Department, taking over for the head in 2020.
At Harry’s birthday party in 2004, she was able to announce to her friends and family that she and Ron were expecting their first child. The two had decided to wait a few years after her miscarriage so Hermione could focus on her new career path, and Ron could get deeper into the joke shop business. Rose Minerva Weasley was born on February 14, 2005, the same day one of the pro-pureblood laws Hermione had submitted for repeal officially was eradicated, so it was a memorable day overall. Just over two years later in 2007, their son Hugo Weasley was born. He had been early by three weeks and spent a little time in the hospital before they could bring him home, which . Now Hermione and Rons children are grown, in Ravenclaw and Gryffindor house, and Hermione's father died from complications of Alzheimers' disease just three weeks before the start of the 2023-2024 school year. She been experienced more stress than usual, fretting over her children and her husbands’ safety, particularly with Hugo's visions as some of his older sights are now becoming more clear. It took all of the self-control Hermione had to not run to Hogwarts and just be with her children at all times.
Hermione was eventually elected as the Minister of Magic, and vowed to lead fairly and justly.
Death
Hermione was killed by an explosion at the Quidditch Final of 2025. Her death was felt throughout the entirety of the wizarding world, to this very day. A fund was set up in her honour to support charitable organisations with the aim of getting equal rights for all magical beings, called the Hermione Granger Liberation Front.
