–person to someone |
(quick summary about the character)
Personality[]
rebellious: if there is something he can do to try and get his parents attention, he'll do it. he's not as bad as he was when he was younger but it's like some deep set instinct in him, if it'll get a reaction out of someone, the odds are he'll do it. whether it's magically changing the colour of his room, his hair or the kitchen he'll have done it. authority is something he bucks against every now and again, though most of the time he'll toe the line but there's a streak in him that pops up just enough to keep life interesting.
independent: growing up like he did, lucas had to do a lot on his own while he was growing up. he had his parents to an extent and his older sister but there was no one there to really help him when he needed it. if he needed something while his parents were dealing with his sister he had to get it on his own. asking someone else for help has never been easy for lucas because he's needed to do things for himself so much it's become second nature to just sort his problems out on his own.
reckless: looking before he leaps is something of a habit lucas has gotten himself into. taking the time to think things through and weigh up the pros and cons of something takes too much time. he'd much rather ask forgiveness than permission. there is something about not knowing what could happen, the chance that something amazing might happen is more than worth the risk that something bad might happen.
insecure: lucas puts on a facade of not caring about what people think. the reality is that he cares deeply about how people perceive him, he just doesn't know what to do about it. he'll mull over conversations he thinks went badly, whether he's made an idiot of himself in front of someone or whether or not people are getting sick of him being around. if there is one thing he hates it's being made to feel like he's a nuisance, a feeling he had all too often growing up.
envious: luke is jealous of what people have that he doesn't. he's jealous of his sister for having his parents love and attention, he can be jealous watching his cousins with their parents and knowing that he never had that bond or closeness with them that the rest of his family seems to. he doesn't like being jealous of other's but it's something he just can't help.
History[]
no one expected natalie weasley to have a child so soon after ondina. none the less, she did and luke was born. it can't have been easy having two toddlers, one needing almost constant attention and a newborn but charlie and natalie managed to keep their children alive enough to see all three of them become adults. growing up luke could never deny that he wasn't loved but he did question whether or not he was important. after all being second to his sister all the time left it's marks on him as a child. he had two sisters but only held ill feelings towards one. it wasn't that he didn't love her he just resented the way she took up all of the attention, all of his parents spare time and there was hardly any left for him. he grew up doing anything he could to get any measure of focus from his parents, whether that be climbing onto the roof of their house, climbing almost every tree he walked past, drawing on the walls or anything else you can think a young child might do for attention.
it wasn't all bad though, he had his older sister, his cousins and the large family that came with being a weasley. any chance of spending time at the burrow or shell cottage or where any of his family lived was one he relished. the chaos that came with lots of people in one place, the noise from people all trying to be heard and getting to spend time with all the people that he loved. running around with his cousins, eating the food his grandmother cooked and running amok in the grounds around the burrow, they easily form some of his best memories.
when he turned eleven it was time for him to join his older sisters at hogwarts, he admitted to himself that he'd miss having his parents to himself, even though it had only been for a year, it had been nice to somewhat feel like it might have been had his sister been healthy. the train ride to the school was spent excitedly talking with his cousins and friends of their parents about what was waiting for them. they had some idea after growing up hearing stories but it would take looking at the castle with his own eyes to make him see just how amazing it really was. it didn't take the hat long to sort him into gryffindor, though he hadn't really been worried about what house he'd be put into. he had cousins and people he knew in every house so he knew there'd always be someone to talk to if he needed. his first year passed like a blur as the classes and learning the ropes of the school, settling in and making new friends all ran together and suddenly he was starting his second year.
it was then that he started trying to decide where he wanted to go after he left hogwarts. he didn't think about it too seriously but he knew with no uncertainty that he either wanted to follow his parents footsteps and work with magical creatures or he wanted to work for the ministry, as either an auror or with the magical law department. entering his fifth year he made the decision to try and enter the auror program when he graduated from school. after all when he finished working at the ministry he could work with magical creatures, to him it wouldn't work the other way around. now he's in his seventh year, getting ready to step into the dangerous unknown that is the real world. it's not pleasant beyond the walls of hogwarts but at the end of the year, that world becomes his world and somehow he wants to change it.
